Celebrating Nigerian Women in Finance & Technology

There are no doubts that women are carving their niche in the men dominated world of Finance and Technology. From trailblazing businesswomen in our biggest banks, to innovative founders creating new avenues of money exchange, women are taking the bold step in pioneering financial technology in Nigeria.

I can’t possibly feature all exemplary women making exceptional contributions towards the growth of the finance and technology sector in this country but hopefully this feature inspires more women to get more interested and take up more roles in the industry.

The International Women’s Day celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women with this year’s theme of #BeBoldForChange. Each one of us – with women, men and non-binary people joining forces – can be a leader within our own spheres of influence by taking bold pragmatic action to accelerate gender parity. Through purposeful collaboration, women can advance and unleash the limitless potential which only women can offer to our economy.

However, this is a call to action for women globally hence they look out to solve problems coming out from their various communities. Angelique Kidjo in a quote says: “We Africans have to be able to deal with our problems. Help from outside is alright, but we have to learn to be responsible for our own attitudes”.

Across the world today, most of the leading financial & Technological businesses pioneered by women have had several stories of blood sweat, and tears, but what really keeps most them going is the unwavering attitude towards work, also the passion they have built around what they do and love.Today as we celebrate International Women’s Day, we honor the many women that have worked tirelessly to carve out a very meaningful place in the world of business, Finance and Technology.

In Cellulant, it is noteworthy to state that about 70% of our staffs are women who function both in technical and financial managerial position in the organization. They joggle between their demanding responsibilities as mothers where the organization provides a crèche, also are yet productive, bold and work tirelessly for the growth of the company. We’ve come a long way, indeed, but even as women have risen to become an integral and necessary part of the modern workplace we encourage other women globally to follow this trend.”. #BeBoldForChange
